What it covers

How American government works: constitutional principles, Congress, the presidency and the courts, public opinion, parties, interest groups and the media. ASU notes the course counts toward the Arizona Seal of Civics Literacy for high school students who use it for dual enrollment.

From ASU's posted syllabus for the Fall B 2026 section. Weights can change between sessions; the syllabus for your section is the one that counts. A C usually starts near 70%, the line for adding the credit.

How the deadlines work

Open access with scheduled deadlines: everything is available from day one and work can be done early, but each assignment has a due date to keep to.

In a session-based course, work can finish early but the grade is finalized only after the session ends; an on-demand course posts in the session the student finishes. Either way, ASU's syllabi give up to a year after finishing to decide whether to add the credit ($400 to ASU, only with a C or better).
