Practice for a first job interview

The questions first-time job seekers are asked most, how to answer, and what to do before and after the interview.

Your progress

Practice these questions out loud

Tell me about yourself (school, one interest, why this job)
Why do you want to work here?
What is your availability during the school year and summer?
Tell me about a time you worked on a team
How would you handle an upset customer?
Do you have any questions for me?

Before

Know the work permit rules for your age and state, if any
Plan the route and arrive ten minutes early
Dress one step nicer than the job requires
Bring a short list of references with phone numbers

After

Send a short thank-you message the same day
Follow up once after a week if you have not heard back
