A summer learning plan that avoids the summer slide

A light, realistic plan to keep reading and math going over the summer, plus one project your student actually wants to do.

Every week

• Read at least three times a week
• Twenty minutes of math practice twice a week
• One outing or activity that teaches something (a museum, a class, a job)

One summer project

• Pick something your student cares about: a build, a business, a story, a skill
• Set a finish date and a way to share it
• Write it down for the activities list

Before school starts

• Take a free readiness check for next year's hardest class
• Review the schedule and any summer assignments
• Reset sleep times a week early
