Colleges read activities for commitment, growth and impact, not for how many there are. List what your student does outside class and see where the depth is, what to build next for their grade, and a draft activities list.
List everything your student does outside class: clubs, sports, jobs, family responsibilities, volunteering, arts, faith communities and projects. All of it counts. Nothing you type leaves this device.
There is no list of approved activities, and colleges do not count them. A job or caring for younger siblings shows the same qualities as a club. Many applications, including the Common App, have room for up to ten activities, each with a short description of about 150 characters.
Want help with this part? Your Caveat advisor keeps the activities record current every semester, helps your student find the activities worth deepening and organizes the activities list for applications.
