Kindergarten · $79

This plan gives your kindergartener a gentle, steady year of letter sounds, early reading, counting and shapes, plus short science and history lessons built on free Core Knowledge and Illustrative Mathematics materials. Each week lists what to do in plain steps, so you can follow it in order and slow down whenever your child needs more time.

Grade 1 · $79

This plan helps your first grader become an independent reader through step-by-step phonics, while building number sense to 100, early measurement and shapes. Short science and history lessons from free Core Knowledge materials build the background knowledge that makes later reading easier.

Grade 2 · $79

This grade 2 plan builds strong phonics and decoding, growing fluency, and early writing, with math from place value to adding and subtracting within 1,000. Science and history follow Core Knowledge topics in order, with short hands-on activities. Each week lists what to do; adjust the pace to fit your child.

Grade 3 · $79

This grade 3 plan builds fluency, comprehension and paragraph writing, with math centered on multiplication and division, area, and fractions as numbers. Science and history follow Core Knowledge topics in order, with hands-on activities each week. Adjust the pace to fit your child.

Use the free linked materials in order, adjust the pace to your child, and keep reading aloud every day.

Math covers volume, all four fraction operations, decimal operations and the coordinate plane, while history and science follow the Core Knowledge grade 5 topics. Use the free linked materials in order, give your child more ownership of the schedule, and keep reading aloud together.

What two weeks look like (Grade 2)

Week 1: Starting the routine

Reading
Begin the CKLA grade 2 Skills strand: review short vowels, consonant blends and digraphs. Do 30 to 40 minutes a day and have your child read the decodable story aloud.
Math
Start with the first IM grade 2 unit: adding and subtracting within 20. Play a quick dice game each day where you roll two dice and add, about 10 minutes.
Science
Begin the first CKSci grade 2 unit on properties of materials. Sort household objects by hard or soft, rough or smooth, and bend or not bend.
History
Begin the first CKHG grade 2 topic, early civilizations of Asia, starting with a world map and globe. Find Asia, the oceans and your own continent.
Read aloud
Aesop's Fables by Aesop. Read two short fables a day and ask what lesson each one teaches.
For you
Listen to your child read aloud for 5 minutes and note any sounds that cause trouble. This is your starting point.

Week 2: Vowels and number facts

Reading
Continue the next Skills lessons in order, reviewing long vowel spellings. Practice spelling words on a whiteboard, 10 minutes a day.
Math
Continue adding and subtracting within 20 with a focus on making ten. Use 20 small objects to show 8 plus 5 as 10 plus 3.
Science
Test which materials soak up water and which do not, using a paper towel, foil, cloth and plastic. Record results in a simple chart.
History
Learn about the Indus River valley and early life in ancient India. Draw a river and show where people would farm and why.
Read aloud
Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling. Read one story over two or three days.
For you
Keep lessons short and stop before your child is tired. A steady 30 minutes beats a long, frustrated hour.
