Caveat Lens · Grades 1 to 8

Learning Skills
Check.

Short sections of math computation and word problems, writing sentences, a three-minute writing sample and a short passage read silently with questions. Most answers are typed and scored by the page. About 20 minutes.

What it checks

  • Math: ten computation problems and six word problems for the grade band.
  • Writing: three sentences scored with a simple checklist, and words written in three minutes.
  • Reading comprehension: a short passage read silently and five questions.

How it is scored

Math and reading answers are checked by the page; equal values count, such as 11.5 and 11.50. You score each sentence with three yes or no checks. Writing fluency counts the words written in three minutes against a grade-level threshold. Bands are Caveat's own screening thresholds.

Caveat Lens screeners are screening, not diagnosis. They do not diagnose dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, a language disorder, ADHD or any other condition, and they do not replace an evaluation by a licensed psychologist, a neuropsychologist or a school evaluation team. There are no norms behind them; the bands are Caveat's own screening thresholds. If you are worried about your child, ask for an evaluation anyway.
